Job Title: Custodian/Janitorial Staff (Contract)

Job Status: Part-time/ 3 days a week

Schedule: Weekdays; some weekends as needed

Pay: $15/hr

Job Summary

The Facility Custodian supports our research staff by maintaining clean, orderly, and safe patient rooms, offices, pharmacy, lab, and common spaces. This role requires attention to detail, respect for controlled environments, and the ability to follow specialized cleaning procedures around sensitive equipment and materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize hallways, offices, restrooms, break rooms, and common areas

• Perform routine floor care: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and floor polishing

• Safely handle and remove non-hazardous waste and recycling; coordinate with staff for hazardous waste procedures (no direct handling unless trained/authorized)

• Maintain cleanliness around lab support areas (anterooms, equipment rooms, supply corridors) while respecting restricted-access policies

• Restock soap, paper goods, and general supplies

• Clean light fixtures, windows, high-touch surfaces, and shared equipment surfaces

• Follow facility protocols for restricted zones, PPE requirements, and contamination prevention

• Report safety hazards, spills, or equipment issues promptly

• Assist with event or room setup as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

• Prior custodial or facilities experience; experience in a research, healthcare, or laboratory environment is a plus

• Ability to follow strict cleaning and safety protocols

• Strong attention to detail and reliability

• Good communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
